Sivi galeb (Larus argentatus)

Rado vidjen gost. Postoje i rijecni galebovi. Svim galebovima je zajednicko da zive uz vodu. Izmedju kandzi imaju plivace kozice.

Just a few pics!

It's my birthday today, so I decided to treat myself by posting here after a long, long time. I haven't been posting, but I still haven't discarded birdwatching! Oh, no, not a chance. I've traveled a lot, but still, my hometown impresses me. Birdwatching-wise. So here are some photos (taken with a new camera) of everyday Zagreb birds!

Streptopelia decaocto - Eurasian collared dove (Grlica)
I love doves! And here's a pair! it's a well-known fact that doves are monogamous and loyal. This little pair is so cute!

It's a pigeon (Columba livia), run for your liveeees!

Many people don't like pigeons. They consider them dirty, flying rats, but it's not the case! Actually they "clean up" a lot of food we drop to the ground like Hansel and Gretzel, thus making our cities cleaner. Oh, by the way, Zagreb has just been declared 6th (sixth!) cleanest citiy in the world. (I'll say that in 2 languages: Zagreb je upravo proglašen 6. (šestim) najčišćim gradom na svijetu). Way to go, Zagreb!

No, it's not a Mockingjay, it's a Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius) (šojka)

Ok, so it's not a very common bird, because it's shy and timid, so it runs away often and quickly. But it's not so shy where I live, it loves coming to my balcony and eating nuts. That's how I managed to take a few, rather poor photos (with my old camera, but it's really my fault for being too slow). It's a beautiful bird, pigeon-sized, or a little bigger, light-feathered with a dark "crest" on its head and a very distinctive blue feather on every wing. It doesn't sound so nice, being in the same familiy with crows and all...
I actually noticed two of them, but I don't know if they are a pair.
